1861 Census shows living at North Green, Parham with wife Hariot (54 years born in Diss, Norfolk) and three children; James 12 years born Denham, Hariot 9 years born in Denham and Sarah 7 years born in Parham. Age given as 63 years and farming 100 acres, employing 2 men and 1 boy.

Will proved 1863 (probate granted 1st May 1863 to Harriet Precious, effects under £800).
